From my experience leading the Growth Marketing Team at KKday, we built the sales prediction model integrating three techniques: Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Generalized Linear Models (GLM), and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost). PCA identifies variables with the most significant impact on sales, while GLM models the relationship between these variables and sales. XGBoost fine-tunes the model for enhanced predictive accuracy, resulting in a comprehensive and precise sales prediction model that catalyzes revenue growth.


In practice, the potency of our sales prediction model was showcased during the 2019 autumn travel fair when we achieved a remarkable doubling of sales compared to the previous year. This success was attributed to analyzing historical sales data and pinpointing key factors like customer preferences and price sensitivity. Crafting an effective discount strategy based on this information not only boosted sales but also allowed us to manage the gross profit margin. The result was a gross profit margin 2.8 times higher than the previous year, underscoring the efficacy of advanced data analytics and predictive modelling in enhancing business performance.
